Wage arrears exceeded 41 million a month ago

As of July 1, there was no recorded data on salary arrears in Tatarstan, reads data from the Russian Statistical Service. This happened for the first time since the beginning of the year, Realnoe Vremya found out.

Salary arrears in Tatarstan were once the largest in the Volga Federal District. So, at the beginning of 2022, it was valued at 47.6 million rubles, while in some Volga regions, for example, in Perm Krai, Kirov and Ulyanovsk oblasts, there was no no data on this.

During the year, salary arrears in Tatarstan gradually decreased. As of February 1, it was valued at 47.1 million, as of March 1, it was 46.9 million. However, in the following months it remained at the same level: on April 1 and May 1, it was estimated at 46.2 million rubles. At the beginning of the summer, salary arrears in Tatarstan fell to 41.1 million.

As Realnoe Vremya explained to the Tatarstan Statistical Service, the only company that had a debt paid it off. No other information was received.

As of July 1, only three Volga regions had no salary arrears: Tatarstan, Perm Krai and Ulyanovsk Oblast. In the district as a whole, it reached 44.8 million rubles. The largest sum is in the Saratov region — 12.3 million.

As of July 1, salary arrears in the Volga regions were as follows:

  • Saratov Oblast — 12.3 million;
  • Mari El – 11 million;
  • Penza Oblast — 9.3 million;
  • Chuvashia — 3.4 million;
  • Kirov Oblast — 2.2 million;
  • Samara Oblast — 2.2 million;
  • Orenburg Oblast — 1.8 million;
  • Bashkiria — 1.1 million;
  • Udmurtia — 0.8 million;
  • Nizhny Novgorod Oblast — 0.5 million;
  • Mordovia — 0.2 million;
  • Tatarstan — no arrears;
  • Perm Krai—no arrears;
  • Ulyanovsk Oblast — no arrears.

Salary arrears in Russia amount to almost 802 million

Salary arrears in Russia in general amounted to 801.7 million rubles as of July 1. Over the past month, it has decreased by 9.9%, or 88.3 million rubles. Compared to the beginning of the year, the sum has increased by 2%.

As the Russian Statistical Service explained, half of salary arrears – 50.2% – were accumulated during the pandemic in 2020 and before. Salary arrears this year amount to 31.2%, the rest – 18.6% — appeared last year.

The absence of own money from the employer became the main reason for salary arrears, it is 796.4 out of 801.7 million. The other 5.3 million — are received in due time from the federal budget money.

The share of workers in organizations that had salary arrears was less than 1% as of July 1, 2022, says the Statistics Service. According to the agency, 12,200 employees have not received a salary.

Nearly half of wage arrears are held by processing companies, i.e. 47.3%. Enterprises working in construction have 12.6%, agriculture, hunting, services in these areas and forestry — 12.4%.

Mining companies account for nearly 7% of wage arrears, transport companies an additional 6.3%. Organizations operating in water supply, waste collection and disposal, pollution disposal have 5.3%.
