Iran, Tatarstan emphasize expanding economic ties

TEHRAN – Head of Iran’s Trade Promotion Organization (TPO) Hamid Zadboum has met with Minister of Industry and Trade of the Republic of Tatarstan Albert Karimov to discuss expanding economic ties.

The officials who met on the sidelines of the 24th St. Petersburg International Economic Forum (SPIEF 2021) stressed the need to take serious steps to boost the level of trade between the two sides, Shata reported.

At the meeting, Zadbum said that currently Iran’s priority is cooperation with members of the Eurasian Economic Union (EAEU) and the Republic of Tatarstan, adding: “exchange of official and trade delegations will contribute to developing interactions between the two countries. .”

He also invited the Republic of Tatarstan to attend the exclusive Eurasian exhibition to be held soon in Tehran.

Later in the meeting, Karimov expressed his country’s desire to expand economic ties with the Islamic Republic and called on Iranian companies to participate in trade fairs like the Halal Industry Festival in Tatarstan.

Highlighting Tatarstan’s efforts to establish a direct flight between Kazan and Tehran, Karimov said: “This measure will increase tourist exchanges between the two countries and strengthen economic and trade relations with Iran.”

He highlighted the bright future of his country’s economic cooperation with Iran and announced the Republic of Tatarstan’s support for joint ventures with the Islamic Republic.

Referring to the establishment of Iranian bank branches in Tatarstan and the existence of the consulate of the Islamic Republic of Iran in this country, he expressed the hope that the interactions between the two parties would increase.

At the end of the meeting, the Iranian side also declared its readiness to cooperate in organizing exhibitions in the two countries.
